Use Blogging to Communicate with Women, Gay Men and Lesbians

In some recent studies, it seems there are some clear consumer groups to target.

If one of your target groups is women, they spend more time on social network sites than men. Find out how Women are Shaping the Internet from this blog post and the findings by research from comScore.

On the other hand, if you want to reach the gay man and lesbian consumers, the survey shows that Gay and Lesbian Adults are Avid Blog Readers and Social Networkers enjoying current news / issues and more specifically, relevant news content to the gay and lesbian community.

What are some good ways to reach this marketplace?
In Toronto, there are some great networking opportunities including the Ontario Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce of which membership includes the opportunity to post blogs on the chamber website to promote your next event or promotion. In addition, the Women in Recreation, Information & Business (WRIB) group will be hosting an upcoming Women’s Business Networking event and hands-on workshop on Social Media and Marketing Your Business.

Canadians Most Actively Engaged in Social Media

Our expansive geography has often made us the first when it came to transportation such as the railroads or communications.  Now, with social media helping us bridge geography, Canada is one of the most engaged countries when it comes to Social Media.  Today’s Globe and Mail article on LinkedIn set to open shop in Canada, not only shares our position as world leaders when it comes to social networking.

We were one of the leading countries to drive the popularity of Facebook and now, about 8 in 10 Canadians use social media, at least, once a month according to Forrester Research.  We are the most active users of Social Media according ComScore.  In their post, The State of the Digital Media Universe in Canada, we learn that Canadians are the most intense searchers than anyone else with 131.3 searches per searcher over a month.  Search is still very important and search growth is growing even faster than the overall internet audience.

So, the next question is how we use Social Media and Search Engine strategies to develop that all important business lead?  If you’re looking for the Do-It-Yourself program, the Create a Website Workshops is all about helping you set up and create systems to cultivate your own lead generation process that leverages both.

Need a Do-It-for-Me program?  Visit Yenius Interactive Marketing where we build full Online Sales Funnels so you can get the rewards of both Search Engine Optimization and Social Media.

Do the Affluent Friend Luxury Brands in Social Media?

Reaching the affluent via social networking, is it possible?

The Key is How the Affluent use Social Networking
So, let’s get to the bottom line.  Social media is a great tool for luxury brands to listen to their target audience.  The affluent do not FRIEND luxury brands on Facebook Fan Pages.   Focus your efforts into creating the relationship at your company’s website.

In fact, to quote the research from Unity Marketing:

As for the future of luxury brands on social media like Facebook, Danziger advises luxury brands, “Building and maintaining a relationship with your affluent customers is critical.  Brands need to think of the social networking aspect of their own websites.  They don’t need to have a Facebook page to ‘friend’ an affluent shopper.  Brands can friend their customers through positive and supportive online interaction on the company’s primary website.”

Demographics of the Study
In the survey the average age of respondents was 45.9 years and average household income was $239,300.  Nearly 20% of the affluents polled were classified as ‘ultra-affluents,’ those at the top 2% of U.S. households with incomes of $250,000. Virtually all respondents use the  internet for personal uses, including shopping .  Further nearly 80% of affluents are social media users.

Social Networking Traffic Eclipses Porn Searches – What are you doing about it?

A good portion of the website traffic generated these days comes from social networking.  As a business owner, now is the time to take advantage of this traffic.

As with all important internet innovations, the best time to take advantage of the benefits is at the earlier stages of the innovation.  So, now, is the time to take a look at how to leverage this changing internet landscape.  At the end of the innovation, we’re only playing catch up to everyone else.

So, what do we do?

Well, what we do is based on the benefits of this innovation.  There are many benefits of social networking.  For one, you can use it to build up your relationships with new and different people out there on the internet.  This is the same as traditional networking – it’s all about relationship building.

Next, you can create a system with your website / blog so you can generate more traffic to your website and increase your search engine rankings.  People still use searches and now, you can use your networking activities to also build up your ranking and get new visitors / eyes to your website for more potential leads.  There’s so much that social networking can do to connect us to more people and website visitors.

Next, as the Clean Email Queen, I’ve had to help micro-business and small business owners answer the question of how they can build truly Permission-Based lists and Permission-Based Email Marketing campaigns.  Social networking helps us with warm leads and people who want to be a part of our community / email newsletter program and much more.

Lastly, you want to know valid ways of measuring your true success.  Followers or contacts is not a true measure of success in social networking.  It’s only the active social networking participants that count towards your success.  So, we measure our success with other more tangible indicators such as re-tweets and other measures of success.

If you’re interested in a full service or nearly full service program to increase your online marketing leads and leverage social networking, contact me at Yenius Interactive Marketing.

Otherwise, I’ve designed the Create a Website Workshops program for a DIY program.  You can learn how to be your own social networking success and be supported all the way along.  Contact me for the registration form of Create a Website Workshops.   I call it the “weight watchers” of social networking.  We teach people the lifestyle and we have sessions so you can maintain your new lifestyle and improve, with more advanced tips & techniques in our alumni program.

And, I’ll see you all on the social networking scene!

And, it’s a lot of fun!
