Use Blogging to Communicate with Women, Gay Men and Lesbians

August 10, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

In some recent studies, it seems there are some clear consumer groups to target.

If one of your target groups is women, they spend more time on social network sites than men. Find out how Women are Shaping the Internet from this blog post and the findings by research from comScore.

On the other hand, if you want to reach the gay man and lesbian consumers, the survey shows that Gay and Lesbian Adults are Avid Blog Readers and Social Networkers enjoying current news / issues and more specifically, relevant news content to the gay and lesbian community.

What are some good ways to reach this marketplace?
In Toronto, there are some great networking opportunities including the Ontario Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce of which membership includes the opportunity to post blogs on the chamber website to promote your next event or promotion. In addition, the Women in Recreation, Information & Business (WRIB) group will be hosting an upcoming Women’s Business Networking event and hands-on workshop on Social Media and Marketing Your Business.

August 9, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

If you’re avid socializer on Facebook, you realize how onerous the birthday wishes can become on someone’s wall! And, of course, our friends send us an en masse thank you for all those wishes!

With all those wall posts for everyone’s birthdays, Facebook started by moving the Birthdays lower on the page and behind “see more”. But, today, Facebook just tested a new format for birthday wall postings which helps keep it organized instead of overrunning our Home pages.

Lisa Chang, Instructor of Create a Website WorkshopsThis is a women’s networking event that I thought you’d want to know about.

If you’re looking for some ways to maximize your use of social media, you’ll find this networking event and workshop helpful.  We’ve aptly called the workshop,  Social Media and Marketing Your Business and its’ being sponsored by a fabulous women’s organization called WRIB.

Bring your laptop or bring a friend who has a laptop so you can share this experience because it’s a hands-on workshop!  Also, if you have an internet stick, bring that with you as well.   There’ll be WiFi at the location but you’ll love having the faster internet stick connection.  Finally, mark your calendars  for Monday, August 23rd, 2010 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm to be at Whistler’s Bar & Grill’s, Banquet Hall upstairs.  Yes, we have a fabulous banquet hall setting for this event!

If you haven’t guessed already, I’ll be presenting at the workshop.  This is my way of donating time to help women business owners in our community to more effectively use LinkedIn, Facebook Fan Pages and Twitter to market their business.

As you know, I’ve been in the marketing industry for over 30 years now and in my own internet business for over 13 years so I believe you’ll find that you’ll walk away with something during this evening including a few delicious appetizers in your belly on top of meeting many other fabulous business women along the way!

By the way, here’s a little bonus for you on how Women are Shaping the Internet if you need a few statistics on women’s participation on the internet.

Register today because we’re going to help you get a kick start on the new season ahead!

Canadians Most Actively Engaged in Social Media

March 29, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

Our expansive geography has often made us the first when it came to transportation such as the railroads or communications.  Now, with social media helping us bridge geography, Canada is one of the most engaged countries when it comes to Social Media.  Today’s Globe and Mail article on LinkedIn set to open shop in Canada, not only shares our position as world leaders when it comes to social networking.

We were one of the leading countries to drive the popularity of Facebook and now, about 8 in 10 Canadians use social media, at least, once a month according to Forrester Research.  We are the most active users of Social Media according ComScore.  In their post, The State of the Digital Media Universe in Canada, we learn that Canadians are the most intense searchers than anyone else with 131.3 searches per searcher over a month.  Search is still very important and search growth is growing even faster than the overall internet audience.

So, the next question is how we use Social Media and Search Engine strategies to develop that all important business lead?  If you’re looking for the Do-It-Yourself program, the Create a Website Workshops is all about helping you set up and create systems to cultivate your own lead generation process that leverages both.

Need a Do-It-for-Me program?  Visit Yenius Interactive Marketing where we build full Online Sales Funnels so you can get the rewards of both Search Engine Optimization and Social Media.
