Personally, I know why tai chi is so beneficial to people and why I enjoy tai chi so much. That’s one of the reasons why I started this blog. However I was curious to know how other people felt about tai chi and the classes we hold here at the studio. Recently, I sent out a survey to everyone to find out what classes are preferred and what people would like to see happen here at Ji Hong Tai Chi Mississauga specifically. I thought you might be interested as well.
Learning weapons brings a new level of difficulty to tai chi. It can be challenging and fun at the same time. Learning how to control a weapon in one’s hand can be an exhilarating experience. Even without achieving mastery of the weapon, you’ll still be able to enjoy the thrill of practicing tai chi weapons. Keep an eye out for our weapons training sessions, we offer training in different weapons at different times of the year.
People who practice tai chi get stronger overall with improved balance and coordination so people are more stable on their feet and don’t fall as often which prevents secondary health issues. A tai chi studio provides a social environment with a community of people who encourage and support each other so people don`t feel alone in their quest to lead a healthy lifestyle. People pay careful attention to each move aiming to assure proper posture, alignment and balance is practiced.
There are many different types of qi gong with hundreds of styles and 5 major schools of tai chi with many variations within each. Tai chi and qi gong are two very different disciplines. It’s like comparing dance with aerobics. Both involve movement coordinated with music and are good exercises for the body, however their intent is very different. Tai chi and qi gong also appear similar because they involve slow movements and provide a host of health benefits, but their intent is different.
It is not only a great health benefit but once the body has formed the proper habits and can execute the movements instinctively, you can add power and speed. When properly executed, good biomechanics combined with speed and power makes tai chi movements become a much more effective martial arts than conventional movements.
